Good Works Project

Good Works 10 Hour Project

My friend and I are doing our good works project together. We are adapting onesies. To donate to a local hospital. When a baby is in the hospital it is hard on the family. Uncertainty about the child's health and seeing them hooked up to IV’s and other medical devices makes it difficult to hold and comfort the baby and even dress the baby. When my sister was in the hospital she often times was just wrapped in a blanket because it was too hard to dress her with everything she was attached to.  We were so happy the first time she was able to wear clothes. To dress Jenny the nurse would have  to take down the the IV's and tubes and feed them throughh the clothes sleeves. It took a long time and we spent lots of time untangling her. Then she would get sick and short time later and we would have to do it all over again to undress her.  We started modifying her clothes so that they would be easier to put on. It was good to see her in clothes because it made her seem little more “normal” and less sick. My service project is to modify onesies and donate them to Mercy NICU and PICU for the families of sick children. They will be able to dress their babies and feel a little better about the stressful situation they are in.

We are asking Walmart to donate the clothes and supplies to do the project.

The perfect dance

I have been to some rotten dances. There have been dances where the guys don't ask, there have been some where they don't have appropriate music... or REALY old music. Now no more complaining! I have been to some really fun dances too! like the New Years dance a couple nights ago. I was with ALL of my amazing friends and the guys actually asked you to dance and there is some recent music (that's still appropriate)! What I think is the MOST important part of the perfect dance is... the attitude you go there with, and when you are there. Yes...I said the attitude!! Not lights or music or cute boys....its attitude!!! Spencer W. Kimball once said "Life can be full of joy and happiness, or it can be full of misery. It all depends on your attitude, for your altitude, or the height you clime, is dependent upon your attitude or your response to situations." That is sooo true!

Virtue

Proverbs 31:10 reads, Who can fine a virtuous women?

For her price is far above rubies.

Reading this makes me want to be more virtuous.

Wouldn't you want to be priced far above rubies?

I would.

When you are virtuous you will be prepared to enter the temple.

Virtuous living at all times and in all things and in all places qualifies you for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

When you where baptized and confirmed

you where given the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide all aspects of your life.

To be virtuous, thoughts and actions should be based on high mortal standards.

I try to follow the standards outlined in the "For the Strength of Youth".

Young Womens Theme

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us,
and we love Him.
We will "stand as witnesses of God
at all times and in all things, and in all places"
as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:
Faith
Divine Nature
Individual Worth
Knowledge
Choice and Accountability
Good Works
Integrity
and Virtue.

We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation
